Southern Gateway to the Shenandoah Valley

James River Realty is located in Buchanan, Virginia in northern Botetourt County. Buchanan is the southern gateway to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. For lovers of nature, the historic Shenandoah Valley is unparalleled. Thousands of acres of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge and Allegheny mountains, and the James and Maury Rivers meander through this area offering hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, picnicking and endless photo opportunities.

Just to the north is historic Rockbridge County, well known for and named for the awe inspiring Natural Bridge. Rockbridge County also offers the Virginia Horse Center, Goshen Pass and the Lime Kiln Theatre. Three nationally known universities are located there: Washington and Lee University, Virginia Military Institute, and Southern Virginia University. Our local culture is greatly enriched by the artistic performances, guest speakers and other school related functions that each offer.

To our south is Roanoke County. The Roanoke region offers activities for every taste including a symphony orchestra, a ballet company, The Art Museum of Western Virginia, the Virginia Museum of Transportation, the famous Mill Mountain Star, over ten golf courses, lakes and rivers for boating and fishing and three professional sports teams. Additionally Roanoke is home to Hollins College, Roanoke College and the College of Health Sciences.
